THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI REVIEW

The monk who sold his Ferrari is a fiction type of book, written by a Canadian writer Robin Sharma. The monk who sold his Ferrari is one of the best motivational book that I have ever read.

The book is been written in the form of conversation between the two friends. The whole story is about Julian Mantle, who is a successful lawyer. Because of increasing stress he decides to leave luxurious life, at the same time he sells his luxurious car Ferrari. This is the reason why the book is been titled “The monk who sold his Ferrari”. After that he goes to Himalayas and met yogi who taught him very useful lessons in his journey. After he came back , he shared all his experience with his colleague John.

Most part of the book tries us to teach that our life is dependent on our thought. We should control our thoughts, due to this we will start taking care of our mind. The book is simply life changing and inspiring. It is one of the must read books for those who think they are just struggling and living their day to day life.

Important chapters :-

1.The wisdom of personal change.

2.Kindling your inner fire.

3.The power of discipline.

4.The ultimate purpose of life.

Those who don’t have enough time to read the book, should go through this summary:-

Julian mantle is a successful lawyer, who earns million dollars per year. He owns a big house and a Ferrari, from which he use to travel daily to his office and back home. But he was not happy with his life and he was stressed due to his increasing work pressure. One day he got heart attack in the courtroom and then he was admitted in the hospital. After taking discharge from the hospital no one knew where did he went. And after three years he visited his colleague office John to share his story. When john saw Julian he thought he looked 10 years younger, because he did a huge weight loss and became very peaceful.

Julian started to share his story. After taking the discharge from the hospital, he sold all his luxurious things and went to India. In India he went to Himalayas, where many yogis taught him many lessons. In Himalayas he found one guru name Yogi Raman who taught him many lessons through one story. The story consisted of seven virtues that you can apply at any step of your life.

The story start in the beautiful garden, with full of flowers and peace around. There is a big light house in the center of the garden, suddenly a Japanese sumo wrestler comes out from that light house. The wrestler was tall and fat, and he had only covered his private parts by a pink cable. He starts walking in the garden and suddenly he finds a golden watch, he wears it and he fells down. After some time he gets up by the smell of yellow flowers around him and then he gets filled with energy and looked happy. Then he sees the roads on which diamonds were lying. He goes through that road. So this was the story that yogi raman told. There are seven lessons in this story, shown by the symbols.

1st. The garden.

Here the garden is your mind, in which the garden is referred to subconscious mind and conscious means you are the gardener. You are the one who should protect your subconscious mind from negative thoughts.

2nd The lighthouse.

Here the lighthouse is your purpose. Lighthouse shows the right way to ships the same way purpose helps you to achieve your goals.

3rd Sumo wrestler.

The sumo wrestler refers for continuous improvement. Japanese sumo wrestlers follow one philosophy known as Kaizen. Kaizen means making small – small improvements to bring big results in you.

4th Pink wire cable.

The pink wire cable refers to discipline. That pink wire represents boundary. This tells that we should set limits/boundaries for everything in our life. Sumo wrestler was naked even then he covered his private parts with the cable.

5th Watch.

Watch reminds us to respect time, value our time. We all have limited time to live the life.

6th Yellow roses.

Here yellow roses represent kindness and selflessness. You should  always put humanity first and help everyone in need.

7th  Road filled with Diamond.

This tells us to live in the present moment. We should not think much of the past or future. Just live in the present and be happy.
